Most boxes have four corners, but the packaging that xpedx developed for a West Coast beer maker does its job without corners. This is the story about a unique packaging solution xpedx developed for Oregon-based Widmer Brothers Brewing.
Widmer told us they needed to create packaging that made the bottle visible, was easy to carry and open, and would not require an entirely new package with each new variety combination.
The end result is all about what you see – xpedx created a box without corners to allow the consumer to see all four bottles inside.
The sustainable packaging increases pallet capacity 40 percent, which reduces shipping costs. Additionally, the visible bottle labels eliminate the need for new graphics designs with each four-pack combination.
xpedx, led by project manager Gaby Roberts, led the project from start to finish. Our parent company, International Paper, provided corrugated structural design and manufacturing from its site in Beaverton, Ore. xpedx is also working with Widmer Brothers’ graphic design firm to ensure proper placement of graphics. Through our custom services department, xpedx even provides the kitting and fulfillment.
Congratulations to Widmer Bros. Brewing for working with xpedx to create some of the most unique bottle packaging that you’ll ever see.
